Earth Team
The
Earth Team volunteer program welcomes everyone who wants to help take care
of natural resources in their community.
In Arizona, 245 volunteers were part of the Earth Team in 2004. They worked
in a variety of capacities
recovery of communities after fires and floods
restoration of wetlands
helping to eliminate noxious weeds
conservation education
office and computer assistance
World Water Monitoring Day
The Earth Team's major effort in 2005
is World Water Monitoring Day (WWMD). Earth Team volunteers will be monitoring
waters across Arizona, gathering data on temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and
turbidity.
Water monitoring occurs Sept. 18-Oct. 18, with the WWMD celebration on Oct. 18.
Earth Team members will receive a free water monitoring kit and information on
how to play a part in World Water Monitoring Day.
